2007 Selection Process - Information for Those Who Passed the Written Test

As a Police Officer of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, you’ll be joining an organization that is serious about security. You’ll help protect millions of people and thousands of tons of high-value cargo in one of the largest and busiest regions in the world. That’s a big responsibility.

THE 2007 APPLICATION PERIOD ENDED ON 10/5/07. The eligible list established by the 2007 written test is still active. There are currently no plans for another written test at this time.

Congratulations to those of you who passed the written test. Each of you is now on an eligible roster of written test-qualified candidates established by the 2007 test. You must continue to meet Eligibility Requirements to remain on the roster or to continue in the selection process. This Roster is used to meet the need for Police Officers as they arise. Each time a police class is needed, the Port Authority will draw a number of applicants for invitation to the remaining parts of the screening and selection process through which successful candidates are chosen to enter a police academy training class. More information about the Police Officer Selection Process and the Police Academy Training Program is available by clicking on the links at the bottom of this page. Should you be drawn for the remaining parts of the screening and selection process, you will receive a mailing/overnight package. Candidates are advised to be prepared on short notice to attend selection events and to produce documents needed for the background investigation. A partial list of documents is provided on the link below to assist you in preparing, so that you will be ready should you be drawn for invitation to the remaining parts of the screening and selection process.

IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU KEEP YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION CURRENT:

Subsequent communications, schedules and invitations will be sent to your mailing address. If your mailing address or other contact information changes, it is your responsibility to notify the Port Authority in writing by sending correspondence to: Port Authority Police Project, Human Resources Department, 10th floor, 225 Park Avenue South, New York, New York, 10003. Failure to respond to correspondence or to attend appointments as scheduled will result in the removal of your name from the applicant pool. Correspondence that is undeliverable because of an applicant's failure to provide a correct and up-to-date mailing address will result in the removal of the applicant's name from the applicant pool. It is also highly recommended that candidates provide and maintain an up-to-date email address. Please continue to use this website to view updates regarding this process.
